My Pick of 2016

At this time its become a custom to select around a dozen of your favourite pictures of the previous year, month by month. Because I lost almost three months of photography from the beginning of September due to my wife becoming ill and requiring a serious operation I have instead selected some favourites from random times of the year in 2016. They are presented in roughly chronological order. The images include Flying Scotsman's first mainline revenue earning run after its lengthy multi million pound restoration, events such as the Edinburgh Fringe, Durham's annual Streets of Brass Festival, a World War 2 veteran with a remarkable life story, a three day visit to North wales to photograph narrow gauge railways and a holiday in Somerset. Slap in the middle of England

How do you pick a 'best' one out of this lot? I can only choose the black 5 steam locomotive in Yorkshire as a favourite because I like black 5s. The only thing this variety of images have in common is their excellence.

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Really strong set David... Through a Cotswold Window, Glaslyn Estuary, and Let There Be Light are my faves, but high quality throughout... Three Generations is so well seen... takes a keen wit, as well as a keen eye to spot it... very sorry to hear about your wife... I do hope she's on the mend...

Thanks Bill, Irene is indeed on the mend although she will have to take things easy for quite a while.
