My problem is: I have been using that (Pentax Optio 330) camera for 1 year but now it's blocking everytime I try to take a photo. I turn it off, the menu is working but when i try to shut it's freezing again. I made firmware update (1.10), but nothing... what can i do? please help!

i have had this problem too and it is very annoying. I took it to a authorized repair centre and the geniuses there said my shutter realese button was broken. I happen to know for a fact that's not that problem cuz there is a certain spot on the dial (between dummy mode and night mode) where the camera actually works. The mechanics of the camera are fine, it's just some part of the software. Any one figured out how to fix this problem please post!

I had an Optio 550 which froze the second time I recharged the battery.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Turn on camera, scrren is OK but no way to take a picture...
Isn`t Pentax going to do anything about this??
I agree with you: it is just a SW problem and I don`t want to pay for a SW problem of a expensive camera....

thanks

Hi!,
I think I have discovered why OPTIO 330 don`t shoot anymore, zoom not working,...
I have opened the camera and I have been able to take pictures, videos... again!!
This is what I have found:
Open camera, two metal half parts away. The shooter is fixed by 3 screws. Remove shooter(black plastic, selection wheel and button).
Then you will see and orange plastic BUS. That`s the problem!!. If you press front side with your nail, you can shoot again.
The shooter has a small metallic ball (under-side) used to position the selection wheel. That is why if you put taht selection wheel in the middle of "dummy" and "night" mode you can take pictures: That small metallic ball is pressing the orange plastic BUS I mentioned earlier.
It seems that BUS is broken and when you press it it contacts again.
I think the mettallic ball has broken the circuit.
If that much is true... It is a very bad design!!!

What do you think about this?
Is somebody going to try my "experience"?

bye
