Done a few tweeks to the page as some people were saying the white background was distracting. Can you tell me if the darker background is better please? Apologies for asking.

Why would you apologise for asking Louise? There's no need to do that, you are obviously a very thoughtful person and I'm sure that most of us on here are only too pleased to offer advice and help.
For what it's worth, I liked your original version, it had a quirkiness and character that appealed to me. You will never be able to please everyone so I would say just do what you think is right and take from the advice the few nuggets of gold that appeal to you.
Regards
David

As David rightly says, you will not please everyone Louise, people have their own style and opinions...that's all they are...opinions.

Thanks that's very kind of you. I'll leave it as it is for now, the only thing is when I change designs I have to put all the picture headers back. Sometimes they don't fit the space left by the change image box, and white area's can be seen as on the photo gallery page. I'm just wondering how I can correct that? Why would you apologise for asking Louise? It's just a standard template Louise, that you get when you join Foliopic - this is a website builder aimed at photographers. It's quite flexible, but probably not one of the best out there and I don't spend much time on it to be honest. I think it could do with a re-vamp.I like your web page David, how did you do that?

Well done for making a website Louise. I like the look of it.
My only niggle is the sloping horizons in several photos in the Devon and Cornwall gallery.
I hope you start writing the blog, otherwise it is a waste.

Hi im in the process of getting some pictures done for the blog. Will check the 'sloping' horizons, last ones are temporary until my visit in August. Does anyone know how I can turn the link addresses into hyperlinks please?

Looks pretty good Louise.
I have a couple of recommendations:-
1: Some people do not respect copyright notices so watermark all of your images, it makes them less likely to be downloaded and used without your permission.
2: If you can, disable the right click option when an image is displayed, it removes the "Save image as" option and makes it more difficult for your images to be downloaded and used without your permission.
You've put a lot of time and effort into your work, so don't make it easy for others to benefit from it.

This is akin to trying to prevent a burglary by using a door chain made of sellotape.2: If you can, disable the right click option when an image is displayed, it removes the "Save image as" option and makes it more difficult for your images to be downloaded and used without your permission.
If you're worried about people stealing your images don't put them on the Net.
Even watermarks can be removed for those who really want to use an image that badly. Watermarks on images are like bleeps over music

I tend to agree - watermarks utterly spoil an image, making it pointless to post it in the first place.
However, it's an option if suits.

Just had a recent look
clickable link http://louisetopp.weebly.com/
Some constructive feedback
1] The header and menu bar should really be at the top
2] the social media buttons and "Copyright Louise Topp © 2014" should be the footer
3] every page has this huge bar with a page wide image of out of focus lights and some other image displayed over it - it's way too big and annoying while the important part of the page, the content is shoved off screen underneath. People want content, the frills should be secondary not overpower the site.
4] You have two photogalleries. Home page AND the gallery sction This is confusing
5] The "Links" aren't links. All URLs should be hyperlinks. I showed how to do this here
6] The background image(s) make the monitor looks like it's got dust and dirt on it. most distracting
7] I'd lose the "Welcome to my photography site, please feel free to have a browse:" and instead replace it with a brief introduction about yourself and maybe 2 or 3 of your bestest favourite images underneath to entice people to click into the galleries to view more
8] Unless you're going to do the blog properly. I.e regularly and with interactive comments I'd lose it altogether. I see so many sites where peeps have intended to keep blogs and all you see is either a blank page or the last entry was several years ago. It makes the site look abandoned and puts people off.
Enough to be going on with for now
