Amazing shots, Mike. "Your four" are so far in advance of "My Four" that I'm artistically embarrassed. Not for the first time.

It's got to be superior equipment...hasn't it? Or...

I love the shot of the tern. Beautifully captured. And hover-fly, too. A lovely varied set.

Tell me, did you really carry two digital bodies and four different lenses around all day? Your poor shoulder!
Best wishes,

Andrew

Mike, I like them all but the "Little Piggy" is my favorite.

I'm with Andrew and would have been delighted with any one of these... I really like the Tern - really sharp and with a lovely blue sky, and I like the hoverfly (in non-hover mode); fantastically sharp and great focus on the eyes. Great stuff

I like the bird picture but its not a Thrush. Either a spotted flycatcher (but they dont have such a forked tail) or a female Linnet??
I like all four pics though.

The pig shot is the best for me but it's a pity the snout looks like it's touching the edge, I know it isn't but looks like it. I'd also wonder about cropping a little off the left edge as the haunch (?) is too far from that edge.

In all of them the colours are delightful.

Image of the Tern gets my vote, Mike, and I agree with Pete, the image of the 'Thrush' is actually a female Linnet.

Nice shots! The thrush (?) looks a little green but it may be that everything else in the photo is green. The hoverfly is my favourite of all of them. The eyes are wonderfully sharp.

I like the pig but it's a shame his eyes aren't a bit more prominent. He doesn't look a very happy little piggy. The tern is lovely against the blue sky, perhaps a touch soft though.

Great stuff Mike! The fly is incredible, love those eyes. The pig is the 'worst' of the lot (but it's still very good )

No I don't .. I took the K20D, 60-250mm & 16-45mm out in the morning and the macro on the K10D a bit later in the day.

I looked it up and it is a female Linnet (thanks) .. have altered my Flickr page and told the wife I am never going to take her advice again.

I agree with the snout, as soon as I saw it on screen I thought exactly the same, will try the suggested crop thanks.

Unfortunately the pig trough was rightin front of his snout (hence the tight framing) so there wasn't a chance in hell he was going to look at me. The Tern does seem to have suffered more than most from being resized for Flickr as it is actually sharper than it looks here.

Mike,

Is it my eyes or monitor - but the Tern one seems to have a heavy halo round it as if LCE or mid tone contrast enhancement was used a wee bit too much?
The others I prefer - esp the Hover Fly.

Mike,

Good glass, nice colours. The tern would be better if there was a pair? (one good tern...) sorry. I'll close the door as I go.

The fly is my personal favourite - sharp and colourful.

The linnet looks as if it may have something else in front of its face - a green leaf or branch perhaps? Whatever it is, it's very subtle. When you compare the sharpness and colour of the bird below the branch it's looking over, with the head above, there's a difference?

Piglet does look a bit despondent, but if he's near the trough, maybe he's just wishing.
