Hi Lee,
Obviously you can go quite far with just the K200D and a kit lens. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed by the impressive lists of equipment some members show in their signatures. Even if I fell for the Sigma 70-300 APO lens, I mostly use the 18-55mm kit lens, and there is a lot of exploration to do.
I like the colours in your photo, and exposure looks OK. The train surely gives an impression of high speed.

Well done on the image, very good.
I love the colours too.
That image would look great on a big poster (bill board) especially with the TV warning about level crossings. Might be a few quid from Network rail if you sell it to them

Hmmn, sell it to Network Rail eh? ... a cunning plan to start me on my "credit crunch beating" photographic career! lol
One thing, in my haste & fear of being branded a weirdo, i forgot to put the lens hood on & also failed to notice that the WB was set to "Tungsten". The moon is cropped out a bit as well to be honest but hey, i was quite pleased for a first time - and one that had to be done on the spot.
It was a deliberate ploy to focus on the warning sign, that was kind of the 'story' i was aiming for really.
Next time: smaller ap for longer dof, probably means higher iso (this was 200), better crop, put the lens hood on....and check the timetable!

I live close to a railway line & there's a pedestrian level crossing close by. I just wanted to experiment with grabbing some evening time light trails, but not the usual car stuff.
Had to wait ages for a bloomin' train (*note to self: Check the timetable before setting off!!!)
Yes, i looked like a proper trainspotter with my camera pointing at the railway line!!
Anyway, it's with my K200D & kit lens in Manual. Nowt else - my very first attempt.

Hope that works
