My dog died.

Thank you everyone. Sorry I didn't reply yesterday. I wasn't in any state to do much I'm afraid.
Poor Timber keeps looking for her, and has taking to cramming himself into her bed.
She was a fantastic dog, my shadow, and very people oriented, whereas Timber is more of a dog's dog.
Today I have to collect her death certificate and inform the council, to stop the dog tax on her, and the health insurance too.
She is being cremated today. I opted for a normal cremation and her ashes scattered there - it is next to the kennels they always go to, and a lovely spot.
I am so glad my son could be with me when they took her away.
So now we have just one dog. He will be our last, so I shall make an extra effort to enjoy him.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. To have an animal share your life for eight years and then suddenly.... Keep the fond memories with you and move on.

Thanks again everyone. It has been a tough couple of days.
I'm just off to collect my husband now so it's going to be a tough evening too.
It has been hard walking Timber and explaining it all over and over to people who have asked where Silke is. Still that is one duty my husband can take over tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your news Gwyn. I still think of my first dog from when I was a kid. We don't have the lifestyle for a dog now, we are away too much.
