Well some liked the brassing effect in the old days but many others hated that their lovely sexy black finish that they paid extra for, was ruined!
I'm rather disappointed they wasted the MX name on a compact with a tiny sensor and no viewfinder option. Not the digital MX I was hoping for. Plus the usual silly Pentax launch price puts it in direct competition with the superb Sony RX100. Not a good place to be.

The launch price is in line with the competition Mark. We're assuming that the MX-1 shares some of its makeup with the Olympus, probably the new ZX-10. However, the brass top and bottom plates will add cost.
In any event, it looks attractive and, like Ken, I like the look of this very much.

Yes, I saw that too! Looks very nice indeed
My son (doing art & design) was smitten by that look too. Tastefully retro.

While I love the old worn/used look of both equipment and streets ( Why rural asia, or Cuba, etc is so appealing for photography ) tehre's something not honest about fake worn out. For example you can buy pre-beaten up Rory Gallagher Strats
At least Pentax haven't pre-worn off the paint

I could never get the finish on my Spotmatics to rub off quickly enough for that well used/loved look
