Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

As soon as I saw Slice I thought "That'd be great, with a bit cropped off the bottom".
So I guess I'm just running with the crowd

I've just had this great idea! I think, if nobody has any objections, I'll take a bit off the bottom of "Slice"...

There, that's better.
(Thanks everyone. It's a dour old set. Great link, Will, but the sun's shining. Multi-storeys have got to be dark, damp and smell of wee and diesel oil!)

Hi Andrew, I like it.
Can I suggest cloning out the little bit sticking out in the bottom left hand corner? I find it a little distracting.
Cheers

They also have to have that variety of tarmac/concrete which causes tyres to screech at barely walking pace, so you can pretend you're in The Professionals... (Thanks everyone. It's a dour old set. I took a shot inside the new St David's 2 car park in Cardiff ages ago but wasn't sure whether it was worth trying again, these images have convinced me to make sure I have a camera handy next time I'm down that way though.

That's much neater, Will.
But that's one of the things I love about photography: the way it makes you stop and look and think; once when you take the shot and twice when you process the results. Video can't do this in the same way.

I think I still struggle to decide what other people will find interesting. I do try to capture normal life for the reason that I love finding scans of old photographs from the 1920s or earlier and how much information we can get from them, but how far do you go? I've been making a conscious effort to go and get some decent shots of the frankly dull trains at our local station as I know few others will bother, so in twenty years or so there'll be little record of the type of units used or how the station looked (for example).
I definitely intend to make the inevitable xmas shopping trip much more entertaining by secreting the MV1 with a roll of B&W film about my person. See what odd corners I come across in between the repeat-loop WHAM! and enforced jingling cheerfulness.

This is exactly the way I feel, Matt. I love looking at old photographs even if they have little or no artistic merit i.e. are not really pictorial. They just represent the very best way of seeing things the way they were. Often the more banal and humdrum, the better.
To that end, here are five of my failed street shots from last week. They have no artistic merit, are technically imperfect and are really very dull to our eyes: just a woman struggling to use a mobile phone, some people talking, others waiting to cross a road, a homeless man... but will someone come across them in fifty years time and say, "So that's how pople lived in 2010. How interesting!"? I'm not sure.

Andrew - these are valid .
They aren't studies , they are moments in time - snatched before they change . They show life as it was happening at that second .
Just look at the guy on the mobility scooter - doing his Christmas shopping ? , equipped for a late return ? and he also remembered his stick so he could move around in a shop .
Look at the 2 ladies having a mobile lunch - are they related ? friends doing a joint shopping expedition ?
