The lens will be fine! By signs of use means that it is where the mount scrapes up against the camera mount. Sometimes they leave slight marks on the mount where metal scrapes against metal. It's purely cosmetic.

I've bought from MPB in the past and found them straight arrows. Any problem and they're willing to help.

Is the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro a bad lens? Someone said it's very soft wide; how noticeable is it, My main use for the lens is the odd wedding (and some family pics, events). Is it worth paying about 2.5 times extra for a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM?
Other options would be:
- Tamron AF 17-50mm f/2.8 (I can get this for about same price as the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro
- Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro HSM (are there different versions of this?)
any others?
Is the Sigma 17-50 heads and shoulders above these?

I'm looking at getting a reliable 17 or 18/50 f2.8 lens and saw this
Firstly, I presume the site is 100% trust-worthy & legit. Why is the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro - Pentax Fit so inexpensive on MPB? From reviews, it's a very good lens..... constant f2.8, autofocus, sharp.
Is there something I'm missing?
Site says-
"The glass is clean and in good condition. The lens barrel shows some cosmetic marks.
There is some light dust within the lens, which would not affect optical performance at all. The focus ring is in good condition.
The lens mount shows signs of use. This has been reflected in the price."
Signs of use on the lens mount- is this just cosmetic or something to be concerned about?
