More than satisfied

This is my first post on the forums but I've spent many hours reading everyone's comments on various topics.

I have to say that i am amazed by everyone worrying about the next piece of digital kit to be announced be it APS-C or FF.

At the end of the day is it really that important. I've been a professional photographer for over 10 years using APS-C cameras and have had nothing to complain about from the moment i changed from film to digital capture.

The important thing to remember is to continually learn your skill and or trade and enjoy your creations.

Hello Peter, welcome to the Forum! I tend to agree with you, but then I'm not an 'early adopter' so I probably don't fret about these things too much. It's nice to have up-to-date quality equipment that does the job well, but I have to say that none of my modern lenses beats my 135mm F3.5 SMC Takumar for portraits when teamed up with the K-5, so I can only conclude that lenses haven't advanced too much in the last 30+ years!

Cameras might be a different kettle of fish, but still I don't worry about what's coming next, I wait to see how good it is after others have used it for a while!

Yea i agree about the lenses, i find that Pentax take some beating when it comes to lens technology.

I used Nikon for years as a professional but got sick of carrying such lumps around on a 12 hour plus wedding shoot, so i came back to Pentax when the K5 came about and im more than satisfied but most importantly so are my customers,

I have a certain affection for using older lenses as well - as long as they do the job as I want it done

I get the feeling that many Pentax APS-C users have got a lot of good old film era lenses, and are yearning to get them back onto full frame again, especially at the wide end of the scale.

Then we would'nt have to keep worrying so much about which 10-20mm zoom or 14mm prine has the least distortion or sharpness issues at wide apertures. A FF model would certainly allow us to get the most out of these older lenses. Other DSLR brand owners with APS-C probably don't have the same concerns, as their lenses have to be modern anyway. We can all see the potential just over the horizon.

I look forward to new models and new equipment coming out - it means I might be able to afford the older outgoing model if it's being discounted! Talking of older lenses you should see the look on the face of my mate at work (Canon user)when I tell him how old some of my lens are

Yup, lots of old film lenses used on a full frame camera on a almost daily basis. Currently using a full-frame Pentax SV and KX. Sometimes I even put them on my K20D so it doesn't feel too neglected!

Seriously though, there is nothing sacred about the 35mm format. You could make the sensor any size you please, and any shape! The shame with film cameras is when the film size is no longer attainable. For example, the demise of Efke means that all those beautiful baby Rolleis that took 127 format film are likely to become ornaments.

True, but these lenses were designed for that format, not APSC.
