I've bought stuff from Hong Kong before and it normally takes 4-5 days to get here. Check H.M. Customs web site for import duties - you may find small value orders do not incur import duty?

I bought mine from dealextreme.com at USD 4.25, free shipping world wide. It arrived within 2 weeks, straight in my mailbox, no duty or VAT to be paid.
The unit is OK, does the job and I am very satisfied.

But the OP is in the UK, not Norway, so the policy on charging VAT on small parcels may be rather different.I bought mine from dealextreme.com at USD 4.25, free shipping world wide. It arrived within 2 weeks, straight in my mailbox, no duty or VAT to be paid.

I have found an enormous difference in postal delivery times between Hong Kong (usually pretty quick) and mainland China (often very slow).
Official UK policy is to charge VAT and duty if the item is worth more than about UKP 18.00. In practice, some post offices are rather lax in enforcing this, so you might get away with it.

The two litems mentioned above are well below the duty limits for the UK. No duty, VAT or handling charge will be payable. I find delivery from HK and China to the UK usually takes 5 to 14 days.
Also look for infrared remote controls if you don't need control from a long distance. I got a cheapo "multi brand" one that does the job.

You're getting the posters mixed up. terje-l is from Norway. duroo72 is from Kent.

You are the mixed-up one. OP means original poster - which is Duroo.George Lazarette wrote:

George.
There is a similar policy in Norway. Items worth NOK 200 or less will not be processed for duty or VAT, quite similar to the British GBP 18.00.
When I looked for remote releases originally, I planned to grab my soldering iron and make one up myself. But when I found the one from dealextreme.com at USD 4.25, postage included, I could not be bothered. There is a limit to how much work one will do for two - three pounds.
