I can see why you've gone mono due to the clouds but this one doesn't have the impact that the colour ones you've shown us have had.

I just revisited the original, took out the B&W conversion layer and it's barely different. The clouds are all grey and there's no sky. The only colour is the blue around the discs and that's really dark to begin with and in this light all but disappears to dark grey. Part of the problem is that I exposed for the clouds and that rather killed the rest of it.

At Lilly's prompting I lightened the right edge and as you experimented I went square. I think it's a little better.
