Statues and monuments seem to be flavour of the week. This is the war memorial in Croydon. I didn't have anything to do with it until now.

and this is the Cameronians war memorial in Glasgow which has fascinated me since I was a child. This is as close as sculpture can get to being 'photographic' I think, everytime I see I can find more detail. This is a colour picture believe it or not.

If you don't know about this regiment it is really worth googling.

EDIT: I've just noticed that it is the same rifle probably, whose going to be first to identify it?

I thinks that it is the Lee Enfield 303 rifle.

I really like the use of shallow DOF in the first photograph. The detail in the second monument is quite astounding. I have only ever been to Glasgow for conferences and have never had the chance to look around.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Both very good shots. The first one is most unusual and dramatic. i love the way you hold detail in the shadows of the second one, Ken.

There's some excellent stuff on this site at the moment. Must be spring, or something!

Andrew

Thanks for the comments. Its shot from eye-level, usually pictures of it have a blue sky with a few fluffy clouds but I think the rain really adds to it. I might go and do some more statues over the weekend, at least they dont talk back or move.
