3 is good, no doubt, but I keep coming back to look at 2 again. Clever shot, love the strong foreground frame and the two framed bridges in the background.

I like 3 two. I think I'd try cropping a little more off the bottom and right - to off-centre the figures a bit more. Also, have you tried B&W - I think this might work very well here?

Dr. Mhuni I can appreciate what you mean about the crop but I think the lose of all the colour tones is too much with a change to B&W.

The colours and angles of the second looks a bit Union Jackish (new adjective there) - the more I look at it the more I like it. I prefer the b/w version of the third.

I find the second one a bit too confused for my liking but the third one is excellent. Personally, I prefer the monochrome conversion but in this case I think either works and it is more a matter of taste.

Yes! That's exactly it I've been trying to figure out what the hell it reminded me of

Actually Barrie, I think you're right - you do lose something in the conversion. Re. the crop, I actually wouldn't take so much off the right hand side - partly so the figures aren't so close to the edge, partly because I just prefer more rectangular frames. Had a play with it myself and came up with this:

I understand it's subjective, but I think this works better for me (though this is always hard to assess immediately after you've spent too much time looking at a photo). Hope you don't mind my posting this.

Great shots

Number two is my favourite but there is also something interesting about picture 1 that I just can't put my finger on

No 3 in colour is my pick Barrie, although the mono conversion runs 2nd.

The bridge looks to be of similar design and style to the Sydney Harbour bridge.

Thanks for the Comments all. The Tyne Bridge is the forerunner of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I believe they are built to the same basis design.

Not quite the case Barrie. I always thought that, but now understand the Sydney Bridge was started first. Although the Tyne Bridge was finished first as it was a smaller job.

I must say they are all very impressive shots but No 3 is the star of the show for me. I do prefer the colour to the B&W. I like the way the two figures are silouhetted against the receding perspective of the arches.

According to the internet the Sydney bridge opened in 1932 and was started in 1926. The Tyne bridge opened 1928 and was started 1924. but that's just internet.

Thanks for the clarification Alan and Barrie - it demonstrates they were contemporary designs then, explaining why they look similar. I was unaware of their related histories until your post Barrie, so thanks again!
