Moon shot DA*300mm 1.7 af Adapt

I had the chance to take a few moon shots with my DA*300mm with the newly aquired AF 1.7 adapter

The more I see, the more I think that the 300 should be on my shopping list!

Agree - that lens is good. Great detail of the moon.
On a dark desert highway, cool Pentax K5 in my hand.

I think you'll find that it's the sun that is shining & the moon is reflecting the light back to earth !


I wonder how marked the difference would be at the same shutter speed & aperture ?

This was mine with same teleconverter but older Pentax F* 300mm f4.5.

Yours looks extremely sharp Mike, did you do much PP with it : Impressive shot

Mine were cropped by about 40%

Mine was cropped by abut the same and resized for Flickr, there was a fair amount of processing done to get it how I wanted.

I do find the image from Mike better, not in terms of the final quality but in the composition.
When the moon is not full you can see the globe shape more easily as the shadow from the earth defines it.
All shots are very impressive though. So the next time the moon is nicely visible overhere I will give it a try as well. Luckily there isn't that much light polution here in the village I live in.

Thanks richard, Im waiting for a clear night to have a go with your 300mm f2.8 and stacked 1.4x & 2x-L converters.
