I have changed the date and also added a reminder that images must be shot in September 2012. It was suprising how many did not read the rules for the first two competitions, but hopefully we are up and running for this one.

No more so than choosing Women at Work or Children at Play. Whether the judge intended his title to be taken literally, he will have to say, or whether he really meant People at Work. Are we being sexist here:
Until I'm told otherwise, I'll be looking to fulfill the brief as stated.

Can we stay on topic please - this is for discussing the competition. I have no idea what labradors have to do with it....

On a more relevant note, it's not looking as though many of us are taking on board the idea of this competition. That is, that the images should be shot specially for the competition, during the month it is running.
Otherwise, it's just another weekly competition but less frequently.
It's only the first day and we have two shot in August and one not defined. Thoughts?

I think all you can do is delete them. I don't suppose there is a mechanism in the competition uploading to check the date in the exif and stop them being entered

Many years ago a photograph was published which some of the older members may remember. It comprised a burst water main and a man dragging a pneumatic drill away from the site. Whilst I didn't expect to see such a classic shot taken and entered during the period of the competition I thought the title and what I was looking for was clear. It appears some members are unable to understand the concept of men going about their business so perhaps one of them could set a subject and I will happily stand aside.
As regards the images John has mentioned I think everyone should read the few simple rules of this competition or have their images judged accordingly.

General point here: Shame topics can't be a bit more inclusive. Night shots at the height of the summer, humour (but only of a narrow ecclesiastical type) and now men at work (excluding women, and preferably with high pressure air equipment???). Why not people at work? It would give me a much higher chance of getting an image in. I don't mind a bit of homo-erotica, like the next man, but we do seem to throw the baby out with the bath water given the whole point of the exercise is to "stimulate" the imagination. We allow the widest interpretation for the weekly, letting anything vaguely related in yet we get anal and draw in when the fortnightly/monthly runs. Unless I'm getting it all wrong and I should be turning in doggedly literal images with no artistic merit?
Lurking is shirking.!

Someone may have an idea for an image to enter and be put off because a similar ineligible one has been uploaded. So I would say delete them rather than just have the judge ignore them.

Doug, that was quite unnecessary and inappropriate.
Stan, you should just carry on regardless and if you think something has no merit, then you won't let it win I'm sure.
