I know what you mean Frankie, but one of the comments with the fortnightly was, too little time to complete the task. So I assume the lull is working out what to do then finding the time to take it.

There didn't seem to be much activity for the first couple of weeks and then lots at the end so perhaps there is enough interest for it to be fortnightly?
I think that is the nature of the beast though. Inevitably most photos will be posted towards the end of the period, whether that is a fortnight or a month.

Congratualtions to Bernard (Frogherder) for winning with such a stunning image.

Good inaugural monthly comp. Can't see the fortnightly carrying on now.
Was it still running I thought it had been kicked into touch by the monthlies.
I admire your prescience.

I would expect it to be slow for the first half of the month as it's unlikely we could leap into action and shoot our entry in the first few days.

At least monthly gives us all time and the turnout was very good, which seems to support that.
Best regards, John

I liked the fortnightly comp, not too long to wait for the results and obviously the photos were posted earlier. I can also see the need for the monthly comp, gives people more time to get a good shot which depending on the subject could be awkward, shift working etc. I'll just go with the popular vote.

Stan

I suspect that might have been to do with the nature of the subject matter of this particular competition. It was only towards the end of the month that the nights were starting to draw in again and what about the endless rain early on in the month?
I had been out one night in the middle of the month but came back with nothing suitable to enter. I don't think even the moon had been visible until the last few days of the month and its re-emergence was what encouraged me to try again, though in the end it didn't appear in the one I submitted.

Monthly was great or me. So many times I thought about getting my pics done, but didn't manage to find time. Having the extra time to plan, or find the time, will make entering a lot easier. Plus the end of the month deadline is easier to keep in mind!

The monthly one was better for me too. Even so only managed to get out after dark twice all month, the second time I had planed to retake my entry but unfortunatly the garage had its lights out for some reason. So had to go with the first that why I was later entering. This month could well because I cant think of anything LOL.
