Monthly competition # 19 Bits 'n Pieces

The topic for January 2014 is Bits 'n Pieces. I'm looking for photos of bits of things rather than the whole item - sort of abstracts but not in a 'guess what it is sort of way.' This isn't a puzzle competition but one to see who can come up with the most artistic compositions with selective views of .... well anything that takes your fancy.
For instance if you are into cars or planes I don't want to see the whole car or plane but a very selective angle focussing on the shapes, curves lines and colour.
I'm hoping this will appeal to a wide range of photographic interests such as architecture, engineering structures, transport, landscapes etc.
Entries must be taken during the month of January 2014 on Pentax, Ricoh or the cameras made for Samsung by Pentax.

Monthly not weekly David

Blame the New Year Sean. Can one of the mods correct this for me please. And also the title of the competition on the competitions page where I failed to make it clear this was the monthly comp.

All corrections made, including the end date, which still needs to be done manually every month.

Please remember this competition is for shots made in January 2014 and not before. Out of date entries are just removed when spotted.

First entry is there, first entry celebrates the 2014 New Year, first entry was taken in 2013 - 31 minutes early!

Already another entry removed that was shot in 2013. Please remember to only use new images shot in January 2014.

Do you PM the poster to explain why their photo was removed? Many who take part in the competitions never seem to come to the forums, so will miss this thread and the message.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no Gwyn, it depends on what else is going on. I'm thinking that the rules are clearly stated by the judge and those who enter should start by reading the brief. As for the forums, many people watch and read but don't post, so I wouldn't automatically assume that no posts means no viewing.

I usually notify them and the reason for the error is usually thet they have more than one camera make and have forgotten which one they took the picture with.

There is a Grate image just been posted too ... at 14:41, a full 28 minutes before it was taken! Someone needs to check the time in their camera - or has Scotland already moved to CET?

CET will come in September.

Being the jet-setting professional I am the camera is never set to UK time, there just isn't enough work here.

I've just realised its been like that for 15 months

I can't believe that there have been so few entries so far on a comp with such a liberal brief.
