Monitor calibration that adjusts brightness/contrast?

Color Munki Display is good Simon, not sure if it's exactly what you want but it does a good job on my Eizo...

The Spyder 4 Pro I believe does ajustments for room lighting changes if that is what you mean.

The Huey does that and it's an absolute pain.... nothing but a gimmick!

Just done a bit more reading and have ordered a Colormunki display as recommended by Jules - looks like it provides all the functionality I need

You should be doing as little adjustment as possible with the calibration software as this only alters the graphics card output. Get the monitor contrast and brightness right on the monitor and the overall output should be better. I have the Spyder 3 Elite and it gets you to manually adjust Brightness, Contrast and RGB values for the monitor before doing the graphics card LUT calibration.

That's exactly why I posted the thread Dan, my current calibration device does exactly this but a couple of the current ones I'd looked at didn't - as you say colour calibration isn't that much use unless brightness and contrast are correct

It depends more on the software, rather than the hardware
ArgyllCMS + dispcalGUI are extremely flexible and allow all calibration + profiling options

As far as I am aware the most accurate and feature rich calibration tools seems to be made by X-Rite (A.K.A. GretagMacbeth).
They are expensive but seem to be the gold standard against which other devices are compared.

The Colormunki is made by X-rite which is another reason I chose it as my current Monoca Optix XR is also made by them and has been very good, just time to take advantage of the technology advances as it's 6yrs old now which is an age in the IT world

I was going to but the Spyder 4 but it doesn't seem to have brightness/contrast adjustment, which my current device does - can anyone suggest a good alternative that gives full calibration?
