I could have put the light on but then there would have been a mix of tungsten and daylight.

I've pulled the quote from another thread but I thought it worth mentioning that mixed lighting should not be underestimated - it can look great.

Daylight with a bit of tungsten added can give gorgeous reddish highlights to a subject and the effect can be Quite Interesting.

The point I'm making is don't avoid things just because the books tell you it's not done. Try it and see.

It can also be a nightmare to obtain correct balance. I think it's OK as long as the subject itself is lit with a consistent mixture of light (say with an indoor portrait), but if you are taking the whole room, proper balance will be impossible.

Quite, I was thinking of lighting portraits or small objects, but it does always depend on the subject. I wouldn't rule out trying anything. I was looking for a good example and the perfect one I can't find, so here's an imperfect one!

Did you stop to read the name on the camera, Clarky? You might find some lens compatibility issues.
