Found this lens in a charity shop for a tenner .

What's your thought on sharpness of this lens .

Having said it wasn't worth bothering with on your other thread, it looks to have rendered nicely here .... I'd say your F4.0 shot looks best and would probably take a bit more sharpening at a small radius. It the lens works well then why not ?

This is one of the "overlooked" oldies. It will consistently produce excellent results and will focus very close indeed (considering it isn't a dedicated macro lens)
If you see one, buy it (but do note that there is also a plain vanilla 28mm as well)
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Unfortunately the one I've had for ~30 years is only the plain version. It got used a lot when I was shooting film.

Any reason the exif shows them all to be taken at 1/15th @ f2.8 and is it actually a 24mm lens?

Camera Maker: PENTAX
Camera Model: PENTAX K20D
Image Date: 2016-04-29 16:40:10 (no TZ)
Focal Length: 24mm (35mm equivalent: 36mm)
Aperture: /2.8
Exposure Time: 0.067 s (1/15)
ISO equiv: 100
Exposure Bias: +0.50 EV
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)
Exposure Mode: Manual
White Balance: Manual
Flash Fired: No (enforced)
Color Space: sRGB
GPS Coordinate: undefined, undefined
Software: K20D Ver 1.03

If they had been taken at different apertures the depth of field would have changed, whereas these all look the same!
