Mines a pint

Nice idea, although it should be a good Ale. On a more practical point the shot feels a little off balance compositional IMO and I was not quite sure how to articulate why, so I downloaded it for the purpose of trying a few minor adjustments, I hope this does not offend.
The first change I made was to alter the levels slightly by pulling in the black slider slightly, this for me gave it more depth of field stopping the background overpowering the foreground, I also cropped the image slightly reducing some of the sky, RHS & bottom this had the effect of bringing the glass closer, reducing the angle of view and placing the slim part of the glass in the intersection of the bottom right & centre thirds, the final tweak I made was to increase the contrast just a touch .
That aside it reminded me of many waking trips to the Langdale Valley and sitting in the Stickle Barn Beer garden and for that alone it pushes every button.

I prefer the modified version, the class is better positioned, and the colours are better, sorry Dave

Yep I prefer the last one also, still you did most of the work Dave
I wonder if you could have tilted and lower the camera slightly.
You would basically keep the beer in the same position but move the rest up so that you see more sky but more important lose the grey road in your shot.
... you shot would very different then though...

On the second crop I am not sure I like how the mountain/hill in the top left hand corner is sliced through.
I could definitely go for one of those beers though

I'd say from the glass it's 1664.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

I think it needs something to the left and in front of the glass, to balance the shot better. Perhaps, to continue the vice, a softpack of Gauloises un-tipped, with a classic Ronson petrol lighter, or brass Zippo perched on top!
Filthy habit, but Oh, so cool!

Oh, yeah... And maybe between the ciggies and lighter (which would have been bought in French Indochina in '57, by the way) and the glass, a pair of Ray ban Wayfarers, with one arm folded in at 45 degrees, such as might have been worn by Marcello Mastroianni, in an early 60s Italian film.
And the whole thing in gold toned black and white!

Back then they would have also had their car keys next to the pint
