I agree with Gareth, Fr Ted. The LHS of the 1st might be a little tight in the crop, but only by a mm or two. The texture reflected in the glasses looks like leather, or a rainy day outside, it's quite an interesting effect.

I think you are right about the second one. I shoot in JPEG still ( never did get to grips with RAW ).
I'll try and tone it down a bit with some curve / levels adjustments.
I did particularly like th efirst one myself. I'd say the reflection was deliberate, but it was too dark in the room to see that until the flash fired

Nifty sunglasses, and the reflection is indeed very cool. Do you really carry a pocketwatch around with you?
I had a go at a similar image for one of the fortnightly comps a while back. Having already previously taken a macro of my watch I wanted one with a moving second hand for the competition. After much faffing around I concluded that using flash was making things much more complicated than necessary! It ended up being shot with an ND filter so I could use a 2 second exposure on a window ledge in daylight, and I got my moving seconds hand

Excellent shots I also like the reflection in the sunglasses. The watch and sunglasses really work well together.
The second shot shows clearly how watches used to be made. They didn't use paper drawings for all those brass parts it was actually scribed out on a master piece of copper and another piece then copied off that. The Russians might have used paper drawings in recent times.
For anyone who hasn't seen it and is passing by the Prescot Watch Museum is well worth a vist link

Aaaah Prescot......................My old Grammar School - PGS - was one of the oldest in the country - founded 1544 AD by Gilbert Latham who left £140 in his will to fund free education.
When I went in the 1950s we were still housed in the "temporary" buildings from before the war.
Apparently burned down in 1978 by a "disturbed pupil" - NO - not me !!

Thanks Tim. I'm quite proud of the sunglasses. I bought some Pince Nez glasses on Ebay and converted them to sunglasses. And yes, I usually carry a pocket watch. That one is my "going out" watch. I use a cheap one when in work, just in case it gets damaged. I get som stick on site when I turn up in a waistcoat with pocket watch Nifty sunglasses, and the reflection is indeed very cool. Cool idea, I shall call you Morpheus from now on . I always end up with tan lines on the side of head from my Oakleys, something like these would solve that and possibly make me less of a plonker. Do they fall off often?

Lovely picture. It's #1 for me and I second Gareth: well lit, exposure and focus as they should be and the reflection in the (very special) sunglasses adds just that little bit of extra. Great job!

I used long exposures, using the flash off camera, from differing angles, two or three flashes per exposure. I was hoping to catch movememnt in the second hand, but failed...never mind, try again.
