Go to ebay. Consumer electronics. Type in Vosonic. There ia a model 2160 reading £12.50 with 4 days to go. It is 21/2 inch drive with 40Gb storage space.
It might be what you want?

Hi Redbusa99, I've one I don't use, if you don't get the one your watching PM me, I live in Gloucester so we're not far apart. FYI thou, check they work with SDHC only SD afaik.

Had mine with a Ist'd & K10D hence worked with CF / SD now K5 and upped cards to SDHC.

Cheers

Hi Joe, I have had a watch on since Vic pointed out Vosonic on Ebay earlier. No good to me though if it wont work with SDHC so I am now on plan B.

I use a Hyperdrive Colorspace UDMA which is excellent. Compact, fast file transfer, excellent battery life & 320GB hard drive. 6000 photos in Turkey last year & the unit performed flawlessly.

This is the supplier I used & he has a 160GB model for sale. link

If I were looking for portable storage now I would consider a netbook.

Joe, I couldn`t agree more. Mrs Cedric popped her laptop into a hard case with a USB stick still in. A very positive cracking sound indicated disaster. Some very tricky soldering and sticking in pins averted one but I wouldn`t want to try a repeat.

I was wondering about a Samsung Tablet but the price needs to drop a bit first though.

if you are goign t spend around £100 on a storage device, why not buy more memory cards & cut out the back up process???
I fully agree with this approach. Class 10 SD cards are so cheap nowadays that it is cheaper and far more convenient to simply carry several and swap cards. I always make sure the card in the camera has plenty of space left plus carry at least one spare card as well. After all, they are far smaller and lighter to carry than a hard drive !

I have an android tablet zenithink ZT-280 C91 review link here http://www.ebellking.com/blog/2012/02/zenithink-zt-280-c91-review/, which i can plug in a usb card reader for the SDHC. not ideal but just the same as plugging into a notebook. Also its very light and portable as it fits in my camera bag. There are apps available that allow editing on the fly etc etc. I am researching an app that will allow live view and edit, nothing as yet but I am waiting for emails from developers.

why android over netbook or lap top?

Price, ease of use and portability

Android Tablets are available from £89 new, depending on screen size. I have a 10.2 inch screen which cost £108 then added an extra 16GB memory card which took it up to £130. Which is still cheaper than a netbook/laptop.

The way the Tablet market is taking off, I think that laptops etc will start reducing in price. Just remember when buying a laptop or netbook steer clear of Celeron as they are low grade processors (used to be pentium 4 rejects).

If money was no object I would by a MAC Book light and take the studio outside.

Hi John

I JUST bought an Acer Iconia Tab A200. Trying to fathom it all out at the moment. It has a micro SD slot as well as USB and Bluetooth.

Hints and ideas most welcome.
