Majorcan Sea Scapes

Yesterday I returned from an extended break to Majorca... seismic activity in Iceland to blame.
I took a few pictures over the 22 days of exile and thought you might like to see some...

Great photos Andrew, I'm glad your back and I hope you didn't mind the few extra days.

I really like the one in the middle with the waves and the two that follow, the colours are just so vibrant of those.
The only photo that I don't really like is the last one, it looks oversharped to my eyes.

Breaking wave, morning mist and wicker chair are outstanding Andrew. Nice to have you back

Thanks you two. It's great to be back. Of course, in retrospect, we were fortunate to have such a good long time. But when you're not sure when/how you're going to get back...
But lots of time for photography. I actually ran out of memory cards!

Stefan, the last one does look over sharpened. Not sure why. I've taken to sharpening with unsharp mask after resizing for the site. Something went wrong with that one: the original is fine and a favourite of mine.

Breaking waves is my favorite, but it is a good set.

Welcome back Andrew.

If this is exile, where do I sign!

For me the series really takes off from No 3 - good stuff as usual.

Thanks everyone. I learnt two things (photographically) although they were really more of a confirmation.

1. You can be presented with the loveliest scenery in the world but if the sky's boring (all blue or all grey) and the light's flat, then the pictures will be very ordinary.
2. You can have a a perfectly good time with minimal kit and "only" a standard 18-55 lens. The range of focal lengths suited what I wanted to do, I used my feet for extra zooming!

A lovely series Andrew. I especially like the passing storm photo but the saturation looks a little over-cooked on my monitor. Glad you are back. Although I was away during the volcano event my flights straddled the close-down and I was unaffected!

Best wishes, Kris.

Thanks, Kris,

Glad you got back OK. I know what you mean about Passing Storm but I haven't tweaked the saturation just my usual Levels stuff. The light was extraordinarily intense, though.
