Hi John, apart from the focusing issues I also wanted a good new standard lens and a better body with a bigger sensor.
I don't think it would ever be possible to "fix" the DS as it can't be setup differentley for different lenses.
I don't like the current line up of Pentax bodies and standard lenses so started with a blank sheet of paper.
I wouldn't have been able to take macro shots with any new Pentax body and that's about 50% of the stuff I do.
The D50 was just an experiment that went well.

Not sure what sort of macro stuff you do John, but I manage perfectly well with my K10D, and there are plenty of others on here that do too. I know you wouldn't have TTL control of your ringflash, but that might not actually be the huge drawback you perceive it to be.I wouldn't have been able to take macro shots with any new Pentax body and that's about 50% of the stuff I do.
Anyway, the Nikon range definitely has a wider selection of lenses and accessories at the moment, so hopefully you should be able to find all you need.

I too was not happy with the K10Ds focusing and exposures.
Pentax P-TTL flash system was also a point of contention for me.
Pentax menu system is also something to be desired, kind of like comparing DOS with XP.
I am whole lot happier with the Nikon D300 even for the shot time I have been using it.

Is it possible to split threads with this forum's software? This one would appear to be a classic candidate for a thread split.

If it's ok I'll post 2 new classifieds with one lens in each thread with some photos I've taken of them. If anyone wants to start a thread in the general discussion I'd gladly join in. It might be wise to choose a non inflammatory title
Will probably post FA135 and AF360 flash too when I get a moment.

Then I'll close off this thread now to avoid confusion.
