MACRO TELEPLUS MC7 KAX converter

Recent purchase of the above is the reason for these questions.

I have seen other topics regarding teleconverters, I also realise that I am probably trying to run before I can use the entire K10D camera settings correctly, but has anybody used the above, and any advice regarding settings and or sample shots would be much appreciated.

I have one, although it is Vivitar branded it's basically the same thing.
All taken with Pentax K10D.

90mm Tamron macro lens with macro teleconverter

Impressive images and a better DOF than I would have expected Mike! Are they cropped much?

First and last are not cropped at all and were full magnification. The other two are roughly 50% crops. The main difficulty is lighting, I never use a tripod and these are all hand held so a external flash of some sort is essential.

Mike, how does the 'macro' converter differ from a conventional converter?

Mike, great images, should I be able to use the 'macro' converter with my line-up of lenses,Pentax 18-55, Samsung 50-200, Tamron 70-300 (macro facility) they are all zoom auto-focus types.

It has a sort of zooming extension tube incorporated into it, so you can twist it and the 'extension tube' section gets longer.

Yes but of course you will lose the Autofocus.
I would say that it works much better with a prime lens though, a fast 50mm f1.4 or 1.7 would be ideal if you don't already have a macro lens.

Hi mike , I'm hoping to do a deal with lennybloke for his macro converter , I have a tamron 90mm sp f2.8. This would be the same set up as you have shown above? Also, you mention it would work well with a fast prime. Does this mean if I combine it with my da*55 1.4 , I get a 110 mm macro with f1.4 ?

Are there any issues with the mentioned set-ups?

Darren, you won't get F1.4 because you lose 2 stops of light with a 2x Teleconverter. Also, realistically, you won't be shooting at F1.4 for macro work anyway because there will be no depth of field! You'll probably find that F11 to F16 is required, this is why you need a light source such as a powerful diffused flash and this is why members on here have emplyed all sorts of DIY and non DIY methods to light their macro images.
