Macro or Abstract what do you think?

It's a great idea, and definitely a macro shot and not an abstract, but I do think there is far too much out of focus.
If it was all in focus it would be fantastic.

I agree with John, the OOF eyelashes in particular are distracting, I would like to see more depth of field. Great idea and nicely focused.
you don't have to be mad to post here
but it does help

I like it.
only problem I have is this:
sometimes I hardly know when a piece is complete.
as it is ,perhaps, it is really good. but I keep looking at it and thinking what if I took a shot like that and did this...or added it to that..perhaps if I...

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I am in the same position, and this is why I question my taste, and skills, by asking you guys what you think.
I don't do much artistic work recently, and if once I used to experiment all the time, now it is only when I don't have too many shoots to work on that I get time to play with camera and designated lenses.
I really like the above photograph, I find it interesting, and different. I have never seen anything similar, and I thought that the shallow depth of field made it a 'good' photograph. I also find that it is hard to know when a piece is complete, and even if pp on this was kept to minimal, my innate lack of imagination doesn't allow me to make it an artistically challenging shot.
So, I decided to re-shoot the photograph, and follow the advice of John and Mongoose, which, IMO is lacking artistic imagination, but indeed results in a very pleasant image!
What are your thoughts on this?

I think they're both good shots (and marginally prefer the first) but I'm with Giving Tree, I'd like to see a little colour in the iris.

like it a touch more!
I saw this in Ephotzine:

and was thinking some kind of abstract, effect or collage done with your original image would look amazing...
doesn't the image above remind you of a human eye, with the eye where the girls face is and the swirl designs comming off it look like eyelashes?

I prefer the second in-focus shot, the first is a good idea but I think it needs careful consideration to the actual point of focus and the amount of DOF, though I have no idea where and what that should be. It may also be better with a slightly different angle, but dont ask me what that should be either

Its something between macro and abstract - what do you think of this? (Again, I like this photograph and I am looking for ideas to make it a cracking shot, because right now I am not sure it is! )
