Revealing for all to see my ignorance here, but on ebay I can buy a an adapter that allows one to use M42 lenses on a K mount camera.

Having said that, is my new *ist DS a K mount?

Yes, a KAF mount to be precise. The adapter will enable you to fit M42 lenses to your DSLR. They will operate in stop-down mode - if you set the A/M switch to A you will be able to focus at full aperture, then switch it to M to stop it down to mater and take the picture. Alternatively, leave it on M and just use the aperture ring.

Aperture priority and manual exposure modes will be available on the *istDS.
Best regards, John

If you get one, make sure you get the "thingy" to unclip it!
You can buy them new direct from www.srbfilm.co.uk
