I have an Olympus binocular stereo microscope to which I would like to attach one of my digital bodies. I have found an eyepiece adapter that looks promising link but is designed for use with M42 mount camera bodies. I have seen several KM bayonet - M42 screw thread adapters on 'fleabay' but not sure whether it's essential I go for one that allows infinity focus.

Any and all advice much appreciated.

Try contacting Brunel Microscopes for advice on camera / microscope connection.
I found them very useful when starting up a photography facility in my lab and have linked an Olympus compact to an Olympus
trinocular microscope fairly cheaply (NHS cutbacks).
The camera is also connected to a mono screen for help in focussing in live view.
I would have liked a DSLR but the boss wouldn't play ball.

I second the recommendation of Brunel.
V. helpful, good kit, economical.

The more I look, the more there is to see!

I have a microscope adapter that looks just like that link but mine has a Pentax K mount. I bought it quite cheaply on eBay. It is not exactly high tech but works well enough.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my plea .

Given that Brunel Microscopes are 'just up't road' from me, or very nearly so, I'll give them a go.

Archie: is your adapter used with or without the occular in place and do you have any examples uploaded 'in the cloud' that I could see?

Jon, my adapter is used with an ocular. The adapter fits over the micoscope tube and the ocular fits inside it. I use an ocular designed for the purpose but an eyepiece could be used if it fits. It works fine with a standard monocular microscope or a trinocular but you would have prblens using it with a binocular microscope.

You mentioned that you are near Brunel Microscopes so it might be worth getting their advice if you tell them what sort of microscope you have.

You asked for some pictures - these are old ones I took some years ago with my 1stDL2. I would make a newer version if I could but sadly I am lacking a camera - my K-5 is languishing at Johnsons Photopia while they decide whether the sensor needs cleaning or a camera replacement is required.
