LX shutter lock variants

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice on LX variations (the black bodies not the specials). I have two with different shutter lock designs, similar to these two links (apparently early link) and (later link), both bodies go up to ISO 3200 (which is possibly significant).

Both need a CLA (sticky mirrors), I'm wondering if there's any differences that may be an issue or help me decide which to get CLA'd first. My 'early' one was generally in better condition than the 'later' one.

Also I may have swapped the backs across in the past, I presume this shouldn't be a problem?

Any preferences between Harrow Technical & Asahi would be helpful too.

Thanks,

John.

I have used Harrow Technical in the past to service my LX - they did a great job and completely replaced the foam and the seals, fantastic service.

As for which camera to service first, if it is just funds, I would go for the one in better condition, if it is not to do with funds, I would consider getting both done at the same time. I sent Harrow 3 cameas for servicing: LX, MV and Zoom 70 at the same time.

Hi Beakynet,

It's partly funds but also to make sure they both don't get lost in the post together . What did you have done to the Zoom 70? I have one which seems to have a jammed lens and hadn't thought anything could be done for it.

I doubt there is anything much in it between the two models so I'd do the nicer one first. Harrow have always done a good job on my LX, once for a sticky mirror (although not the classic sticky mirror problem) and once when I dropped it and bent the rewind shaft. Owch.

PS Harrow used to give a PUF discount. Worth asking. K.

I had a broken flash cover glass and focus problem: all photos were out of focus. Both resolved.
