Lost RAW

Hi there,
I am a new member from Queensland Australia. I have a *ist DS and have been very happy with it. This past week I bought a Sigma EF 500 DG ST flash and I have lost RAW from the camera. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions? I have redownloaded the firmware update (thought it may help?) but nothing.

I'm not sure if reloading the firmware erases any custom/confused/corrupted settings. You might try doing a Reset to factory default. I can't remember exactly where the reset function is, probably at the end of the main menu list. This will set all of the internal commands back to how they were when you received it so you will have to re-enter any changes that you have made. I don't believe that a factory reset affects the shot counter.

I've been using a Sigma EF500DG ST with my DS for a couple of weeks and have not experienced fula6's problem, but I am a bit worried it could happen to me too.

Did fula6 shoot JPEG or RAW with his flash? I thought the answer to this question could help solving the problem, but I just remember that the first pictures I took when testing the flash were shot in JPEG and the following ones in RAW.

One more trick you might try is to remove the batteries for a long period, say overnight, and try again next day. Stranger things have been known.

BTW: It goes without saying (but I'm going to anyway) that when you finally resolve the issue, double check with Sigma that your item is 100%compatible (get it in writing) with the DS, and check with Pentax that there are no known issues between the two.

Oh, and don't reconnect the flash until you have established compatibility from the manufacturers.

Better still, try and get your money back for the Sigma kit and buy a Pentax flash gun.
