Lost interest ?

Since getting my replacement K-5 a few weeks ago I really seem to have lost interest in the camera. Not sure if it is the 7 weeks I was cameraless while waiting for the replacement, the terrible weather or working more hours than I used to but on the very occasional dry day that we get I just don't seem to be able to bring myself to go out taking pictures.

Ho Hum ......

im sure you will get your mojo back mike, think about those air shots you get, once you start aain you will be fine, best thing to do is plan a day out.

Buy a new lens mike will get you going again

Go to a gallery and look at some pictures, if you're lacking the inspiration. Recently saw Newlyn School at the Penlee House in Penzance, its all about the light!! Excellent. And buzzed to Newlyn gallery where there was a nice little exhibition from one of those artists in the Arctic cruises, yah!

Mike - you could always lend me your K5 and see if it improves things


I often go through phases like that. Sometimes it's good to set yourself a little project - something to work towards

The weather has been stinking

I came back from my trip in August last year , since then I've totally gutted and made 2 lovely rooms [ spent a fortune on them but the work was badly needed ] bought new furniture which had to be made , had visitors , attended a photography course [ we will not even TRY and say how that affected me ] , ready to go out to play again

AND


Down came the snow and then the boiler failed.

Lots more cash handed out

Now the weather is better and every time I'm ready to force myself into picking up the K-x , firing up the car - it starts to pour.

AND I'm still handing out cash - Car tax , Service , MOT and a new tyre

Methinks the cat needs kicking to get its lazy backside off the sofa and outdoors

Not that I condone the kicking of poor defensless cats of course

I get the same thing most winters - can't get up any enthusiasm to go out taking photos when the weather's as grim as it has been. It usually turns around once spring arrives and I start going to shows and events again.

It's the S.A.D. syndrome
Take a few indoor still life shots or garden birds,thats what i do when i lose inspiration (which i have done this winter,mostly cant be bothered to venture out at the weekends).
I am sure you will get the spark soon again Mike.

Or you could have a major sale of your lenses

I have no problem going out, I just cant be bothered to take the camera.

Also the job I am in now requires me to work every Sunday until 2.30pm and if you notice, most of the events seem to crop up on that day of the week.

You don't always need events. Go out and do some street photography, or drive bys.

Don't blame the weather either. I did some drive by's in the rain yesterday

I find money to be a major motivator and I'm worried about this econmomic situation, there may be some rusty bodies and fungus laden lenses foe sale soon.

I know exactly how you feel. I've not picked my camera up "properly" since before Christmas really.
Every time I want to, something gets in the way.

I must get out this weekend...but will I ?

I've not really been out with my new Pentax yet with the weather and work, but I've taken next week off so I can get out and about in Edinburgh and see what I make of my new camera and lenses.

Mike, I empathise wholly. I sharpened the batteries, scraped the gunk off the lenses, swabbed out the crumbs from the backpack and then!!!!!!! Just can`t be bothered. Went out to Minsmere and only took Bins and a video camera and that stayed in the car.
