Losing EXIF data

I'm trying to upload photos to the Pentax Photo Gallery but somehow I can't save to JPG with Photoshop CS5 without losing the Lens EXIF data and you need that data do you want to upload your photo there.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I don’t know if the same applies to CS5, I still use CS4, but if you use ‘Save for the web’ Photoshop appears to strip out the EXIF data – using ‘Save as’ and selecting JPG as the type preserves the EXIF data.

Tried both and have used all the options under save for web for preserving Metadata

It's a DNG file directly from Lightroom, if you go to File>File Info I still have all the info but after the save to JPG the lens information that PPG needs is gone

Is it possible that Lightroom is saving the EXIF data as an XML sidecar file and not embedding it in the DNG? This is how Bridge can handle the metadata, when you then open the image file in Photoshop it automatically picks up the sidecar file. I turned this option off in Bridge so the data remains embedded in the image file.

I hope that Adobe have not removed the ability to save jpgs with the EXIF data in CS5.

As a random thought, what happens if you re-import the photo back into Lightroom and save it from there?

I don't have that option on and one of the advantage of DNG is that you can embedded the metadata in it... I've never seen a side car at least.

It's save all the rest of the information, but it deletes the info what lens it was but the focal length and such things are still there

Might work but it's more work though and come photoshop must be able to do it right?

There are programs that let you save or strip off the EXIF Data and put it back later. PhotoMe seems to have a menu item for it, but there are probably better programs specially for that purpose.

Will try the work arounds then.

I just find it silly that an advance program as photoshop has such a problem

It's amazing how many adavanced/expensive programs (even Windows OS itself) still have stupid bugs in them going back years. The marketing people just couldn't care less.

It used to anoy me that Word couldn't use a highlighted/selected word as an input for search and replace, yet Wordpad and even the DOS Edit program could For anyone wanting to change say part no's in a large document it was a pain I think they eventually corrected it in 2003, but from memory I don't think it worked if there was a space in the characters selected.

I've not used Office for years but last time I did I was surprised that Excel couldn't handle DMS.... had to convert to Radians and then back

What happens if you load the DNG straight into CS5 without going through Lightroom? Does it lose the data then too?

Same thing.
When looking in photoshop at the metadeta it's all there but when you save it to jpg some is missing.

If you haven't already got it Exiftool is very good.
