Looking a new compact digital

After 3 years of ownership my little Samsung A6 has bit the dust (well, my g/f killed it...) so I'm looking another to replace it. My max budget is about £100 and only have 2 requirements (and they are not strict requirements). I'd like a Li-Ion battery and save to SD. Any ideas.

Did she get it while it was sleeping...for looking at another camera?

seriously, I'd save up for the canon g9.

The G9 does look like a good package, but way over-priced for what I want. It's a camera that'll be taken on 1,000's of miles mostly in a tail pack on the back of a motorbike, quick and easy to use, will more than likely get dropped a few times, trailed about the garage taking pictures of bike parts, engines etc. Like the pics below (all taken on my deceased A6)

I hate to say this on the Pentax forum but compact wise I'm a canon fan too. I have an S3 at the moment which is a little chunky byut if the G9 is too expensive I'd go for a 720IS this has a 6 time zoom and a fairly full set of manual features. The main advaaantage of the small canons is that most have an optical viewfinder which is crucial for holding the camera steady and when continuous shooting. With an EVF you lose the image and cant follow your subject.

Whatever you buy, make sure that it has a viewfinder of some sort.

Compact cameras with just an LCD screen are ridiculous.

considering the abuse it is likely to be subject to, have you considered that Optio W series or the Olympus Tough range?

The company I used to work for used Optio W series for site photographs. Land surveyors are very good at breaking equipment, and they've never managed to kill one yet.

I suggest the Optio 750Z as a remarkable camera. I have posted several shots on the Gallery taken with one. It also records sound, and better quality video than most, but I suppose it is over your budget. It has a separate viewfinder and a flexible moveable LCD. It is especially good for close ups. I believe that it is only available second hand now, and in that case you might obtain a bargain.

After you get your replacement camera, are you considering (just to be on the safe side) trading girlfriend?
