One thing that I reckon always made Sigma look cheap was that awful flock covering, Looks like they've dropped it now? How about going Metal Sigma?

Definitely looks better than the flock/flecked finish.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

I don't like that velvety EX finish either. I guess it was an attempt to make cheap materials look more 'high end'.

Looking at this again:

http://www.dpreview.com/news/1102/11020804sigma12-24.asp

I've decided that it's a seriously good looking lens and wondered when it may be available. Looking on the Sigma site though it seems that even they don't know anything about it - I wonder if DPR made it all up ...

I wish they'd make the apertures wider on these lenses. I make good use of F2.8 on my DA 14mm prime. 4.5 is awfully slow. Even the DA10-17 fish eye is 3.5

Never known the body of a lens be so difficult to keep clean, about time they made some changes.

Well if you make the surface of the lens akin to 1000 grain emery paper it's bound to keep hold of the general smeg from greasy fingers, etc.

I work on a very, very, very dusty archaeological site in Romania. You can imagine what my "flock finish" Sigma 50mm macro looks like. Luckily the workings are fine, it is just the cosmetics.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Being a geek I was expecting a post about that awful Firefox-based 'social media web browser' from a couple of years ago
