Judith; is the dirt inside the viewfinder or behind the focusing screen?

It is quite big on the Wirral. We have seven clubs in our area. Quite a lot for a minority sport.

Err! thats not a PROPER Longbow not unless it can fire a three foot arrow with enough force to penetrate chain mail and even thin plate armour
But nice shot regardless Ted, I like the low viewpoint and I like the way the bow frames that target stand on the left.

Being pedantic are we? We'll, I'll have you know, a bow does not fire an arrow, it shoots it

I took my camera for one of my friends in our archery club this evening. She is thinking of taking up photography again, but didn't like digital, so I said she could have a look at mine. She's now thinking of getting a Pentax!
Anyway, while I was waiting for her to arrive I got a couple of shots, ( not with my bow ).
I like this one.
C&C as always please.

Longbow beats the crossbow any day, greater distance achieved, and better penetration.

Thats not quite true Roscoe, the crossbow had the range but where it failed was its rate of fire, English Archers would whether the storm of crossbow bolts then run forward and could loose off up to a dozen arrows before the crossbowmen had reloaded. Of course modern crossbows are much more powerfull and quicker to load and archers no longer have the upper body strength to draw back a "proper" longbow, though I believe the ancient law that peasant children must attend archery practice is still on the statute booksLongbow beats the crossbow any day, greater distance achieved, and better penetration
PS; I suppose I should add that the Welsh were also pretty good with the longbow too, just in case our Welsh members know their history
