For anyone on a budget looking for a little extra reach then this looks like a lot of lens for not an unreasonable amount of money. https://www.ffordes.com/p/SOR-18-031900/sigmapentax-af/120-400mm-f45-56-apo-dg-o...

I'm half tempted myself but then being the proud owner of the Sigma 100-300 f4 I probably and realistically don't need this as well.

Having stated that - What's probably or realistically got to do with anything? Maybe I will change my mind and sell the latter buy the former and be quids in with a longer reach to boot!!!

Corvid 19 has nothing on LBA!!! LOL....

If you have the Sigma EX 1.4 TC then the 120-400 is pointless in my opinion, the 150-500 would make more sense than the 120-400

Yes, I do have the Sigma 1.4 TC and yes I agree with you, for me the 120-400 would be pointless. Also, have neither need nor desire for anything longer or heavier.

Personally for me the 120-400 is a much better bet for aircraft and wildlife than the 150-500. My son had the 150-500 for about 18-20 months before he moved to Canon...he sold the 150-500 and I didn't want to buy it off him, despite having had some good results from it. Was a bit 'hit and miss' for me although to be fair, my son got better results with it than i did. Had it been the 120-400 he'd bought, I suspect i'd have bought that off him, as it is just that bit shorter and lighter to make a difference when carrying around for hours.

The 120 short end is also more useful at airports and airshows than the 500 length is on the longer lens. 400mm max focal length is perfectly adequate I feel, particularly as you can crop for those small number of shots where 500 focal length might be the best bet.

Just my tuppence worth. If that lens were to have been advertised in about 3 months time I may well have been tempted.
