Now here's an interesting lens that doesn't crop up every day, in fact I don't recall seeing one for sale before and the reviews for it appear non existent too.
Not a use everyday lens but might prove of interest to someone and @ £150.00 it's sort of affordable.

It's the result of the partnership between Samsung and Pentax a good few years ago - Samsung branded a few Pentax lenses under their own name as part of them allowing Pentax to use their Digital Sensors (18-55, 50-200, 100 Macro and 10-17).

Thank you Lenny. I remember well the collaboration between Samsung and Pentax. In fact I owned a GX 10 for quite a while, that being the equivalent of the Pentax K10 D. It came with the standard 18-55mm Samsung kit lens and was possibly my all time favorite digital camera. That claim may have had something to do with CCD sensor.

Back to the 10-17 though, I've not come across the Samsung version before but its sister or brother, the Pentax 10-17 certainly has some interesting reviews, I'm half tempted to buy out of curiosity, but.......I muuust resist

Interesting! So if I may enquire please, what's your opinion of it?

12-24 and 35/2 were also branded as Samsungs. I had the 12-24 until recently.

It's just the same as the Pentax version other than the label as far as I could tell. As a fish eye it obviously has barrel distortion or it wouldn't be a fish-eye! It's possible to correct the effect in PP if that isn't what you're after. I was't disappointed with it but it's not fully compatible with the K-1 unsurprisingly. Fine for APS-C.

Thank you for that JAK.

Have a good weekend.

I have the Pentax version, it's more versatile than many think. On APS-C at 10mm it's a fish-eye but the effect reduces as you reach 17mm. On FF it vignettes until about 14mm, at 17mm it's effectively an FF fish-eye, similar to 10mm on APS-C.

I did a quick test @17mm compared with my K17/4 FE on my K-1 - the two are very similar, even into the corners (where FE's lose detail anyway).
