Metering mode is affected ... Multi-pattern won't work with the old lens, it will go to centre-weighted. I'm not sure that of itself would have a great impact ?? You'd have to use stop-down metering though and manual mode for accurate results with the Tac I think ...

That last picture looks more like it is through a window, maybe getting reflection from the lens side of the filter if it is a square filter setup.
If it was light from the viewfinder would it not be more prominent in different areas of the image?

Yeah that was my thought also, but it does go away if you put the viewfinder cover cap on?!

Just asking as I have had little success with live view also. I focus, lock the focus in manual mode, apply the filter and shoot in manual mode or in bulb mode if my required time exceeds the 30second limit of manual modes.
And why is there a 30 second limit to manual mode anyway?
So many questions...

Slap in the middle of England
With a DA lens in my K5, sitting on the desk in Av mode and focussed on a piece of evenly lit white paper it didn't register any sort of change with viewfinder open to the desk lamp or covered by my hand.
Change lens and put a Takumar manual on the camera. Same set up as before. The presence or absence of a shading hand produced consistent changes in proposed shutter speed.
So what difference does an automatic lens make?
