Hi Simon

Spent many a happy hour fishing off that pier and digging for king rag on the mussel beds on that beach.

Nice photos but a bit flat to me - could do with some contrast and a bit of PS to make 'em come alive.
That last shot looking across from the Great Orme to the Little Orme, maybe better if the horizon was lowered and more of the sky in the frame.

I kitesurf on Westshore sometimes - gonna bring the camera next time and climb that hill.

Thanks for the comments,

Robby,

I did take several more shots, especially of the 3rd one. It was a compromise between more sky or no foreground & being a bit of a foreground person I didn't think the shots without worked so well.

The TiFF files have a bit more "pop" than these here too which are pretty heavily compressed for web display - I'll have another look at them though just to see !!

thanks

Love the pics...im a fan of a good landscape!

Quick question that may sound silly...but how do you maintain such good exposure for the sky and the foreground at the same time? Is this done using graded filters, or dare I say it a PS technique??

Thanks

To be honest I'm not a big fan of spending much time on PP software, I'm much happier taking photographs. I therefore take my preferred option and spend more time in the "open air" trying to catch that "perfect lighting".

Personally speaking I don't believe any amount of PP can replicate the fantastic light that nature often provides us with

Sorry if this all sounds a bit heavy !!

It's worth making sure that images on the web are sRGB colourspace rather than AdobeRGB, which can look a bit washed out and lacking in contrast (web browsers can't all read what the colours should display as, sRGB should be fine).

Dan
K-3, a macro lens and a DA*300mm...

A useful reminder Dan - to be honest I always run a Photoshop action I've setup which converts image size/bit depth/colourspace/output sharpening suitable for web display, saves on the old "grey matter"
