Limousin Landscapes (4)

Despite living in a very scenic part of the world, landscape photography is something I'm finding quite difficult. I'll be off on some tours shortly to practice, so I'd appreciate feedback on these recent efforts. I can't decide whether I really like them or not. I'm not sure if the coloured ones just look a bit murky and the b/w too false.

I like the black and white shots a great deal - nice and contrasty.

The cloud formation is very interesting; it's as if the main 'clump' of cloud near the centre is the subject - it's what catches my attention, and it works well - good composition. My only suggestion would be to crop a little from the left to make that clump more central.

The two tree stumps on number three also work as good subjects.

I'm less keen on the coloured shots, though number one is the better of the two in my opinion - as you say they are a little 'murky'. Perhaps increasing the contrast/saturation might spruce them up a little?

I think the lighting on the first two is really nice but if they were mine I would do a letterbox crop, definately on the first shot from just below where the hill starts on the right and perhaps the same amount of sky, take the same amounts off the second pic too.

B&W, the first one looks a bit flat to me, probably just needs a tweak with the contrast.

Once in a while, you see a shot and think:
"Oh, I wish I had taken that"
Number three is, for me, just such a shot (like the others as well).

A pretty sound set of landscapes, Doc.

I like the second colour one most, lovely pastelly feel to it. A bit more contrast in the foreground would be nice though. The mono ones don't really float my boat, perhaps not enough interest on the ground to go with the sky, which i like in both the mono ones. I also think the two trees as foreground subjects would work better if they were a bit closer and filled more of the frame.
