Got my proverbial finger out at last and have finally done it!

I was recommended Photium by an RPS friend and I noticed Matt used the same company.
I can say now I am very happy with Photium and has taken a lot of grief and time out of a building a website from scratch as I was originally attempting to do with Dreamweaver and getting nowhere fast!

I came to the conclusion I wanted to do photography, not website building, not where my skills lie! They are very helpful and well worth the cost of £3 per week for the standard package.

Anyway, thought you might like to have a look, any comments, constructive crits will be gratefully received.
I have still to add more content and maybe change the porfolios somewhat, this is only after 2 days work.

Hi Lilly,
This looks very good. Beautiful Photography displayed in a smooth operating website. I think the chosen colour scheme is pleasing to the eye.
Two minor things though....I think the first letters in Lesley Treloar ( as in lesley treloar LRPS PHOTOGRAPHY should be capitalised and on this occasion you missed an old watermark. Other than that, well done.

Great web site Lilly and the photographs are of course wonderful.

Personally I'd drop the equipment list - who cares? Truth is if anyone does care they'll be looking for Nikon or Canon I expect.

May I ask what the main purpose of the site is? To showcase or drum up trade?

that's a great site. There is one thing that I find a bit awkward, though. When I'm on the home page I don't see all that is on offer.

In the slideshow I don't get the 'whole picture', i.e. the lower eighth or so I cannot see. I have to scroll down slightly.
And only then do I see what else is there to discover.
If you would have the slideshow in landscape format it would be clear at first sight. (Downside is, of course, that you would have to use different photos. And I do love the ones I see there now. But I'm sure that you would find equally good ones in landscape format.)

Agree about the photographs, of course.

But I disagree about dropping the equipment list.

Because Pentax doesn't have the money to market its product as effectively as its competitors, it behoves us, the users of Pentax gear, to step into the breach. And nowhere is this more important than when a first-rate photographer is using Pentax equipment.

We all (because Pentax users tend to be better informed) know that the camera is secondary in importance to the skill of the photographer. Lilly's pictures would be just as good if she used Canon or Nikon or Olympus or Sony.

Unfortunately, the vast mass of people don't realise this. They think that they will take better pictures if they buy a Copikonypus. We need to show these nitwits that Pentax cameras are capable of taking superb pictures too, and WHAT IS MORE, for the same money they are often smaller, lighter, cheaper, better made, and nicer to use.

If we want to see Pentax flourish, we need to get that message across.

Thanks for your input, I think you will find it now works better, no scrolling required on front page, yes good point!
Was my mistake sizing them too large, dims were for landscape not portrait I am learning all the time with this

It's still too "high" for many screens. What you have done is choose a portrait format to be viewed on screens which almost always have landscape dimensions.

The pictures themselves are not too large, but your header takes up a lot of space at the top, and then you continue with more content underneath the picture.

To make it work most effectively, you need to rethink the whole shape of your site. If you don't, the consequence is that people will either have to scroll down, or will have to view smaller versions of your pictures.

Edited to add: I am viewing on a laptop at 1280x800.

I need some feedback again if you have 5, I have just put a neat little slideshow on my website yesterday, but it seems someone I know cannot view it in Mozilla but can in IE. I can view it in both OK.

1) plse say can you let me know if you can view in either/or or both for me? slideshow

2) the att. message comes up too, which I hope to sort out if possible.

Not keen on the slideshow (but my connection is abysmal) but love the rest and the photography is excelent, the only improvement would be a change of name to Lesley Treloar ARPS or even FRPS which IMHO would be well deserved.

Well, the slideshow works here, but only after installing the viewer.
I would suggest using a different method for creating the slideshow, a method which does not need a strange plug-in of some sort (flash is ok for a slideshow).

I installed the plug-in and it took some while apparently loading the slideshow and then....crashed my Firefox (which happens very rarely).
So no luck here with the slideshow. Apart from that I don't really like sites that need a special plug-in installed.
I wouldn't have done that would I not know you.
