FYI Adobe have updated Lightroom

Posted, which might be of interest to K5 owners. I found this in the readme notes under bug fixes.

A magenta color cast could have appeared on Nikon D7000 or Pentax K-5 images if the multi-exposure feature was used with raw capture.

I spent three frustrating hours on the phone with several techs and a manager to get them to look into the issue.

I found it funny because I just had the problem (never tried before), and two days later noticed that the beta out. One of the fixes... the exact same issue but for the D7000.

Adobe support seems much better than it was, even six months ago.. but still a right p.i.t.a. when it comes to reporting a bug. Amazingly, within a week they wrote back that they confirmed and found the problem and that it would be fixed in the next release.

FYI, for other Pentax camera owners... dunno about anything past the K7 but the K5 *finally* makes multi-exposure useful and even fun. Instead of processing for several seconds in between each shot, the camera takes all of the shots as quickly as you need, then processes them into one at the end of the series.
You can do some rather creative photos this way.

Good to hear Adobe are listening to users. They have just updated Camera Raw and recently updates to LR seem to follow quite quickly.

I am still using a K10, but but thought it of interest, hence the post.

Yeah, I had actually been going between Pentax and Adobe on the issue.

It is interesting to know that if you adjust the color controls at all, the image will still go wildly out of control.
This is a separate issue form the Adobe magenta cast problem. It exists even with most programs including Pentax's Camera Utility program. (odddly, I believe Bibble does not have the issue)
Pentax says the "problem" actually exists with all DSLRs that handle multiple exposure back to the istD.
In some way it is a side effect of not being able to reliably store information in one image when it potentially consists nine different sets of information. (even if you're shooting environment is identical, something about the storage isn't quite valid to allow modifications).
It may not be "expected" behavior but it is known behavior and no current fix expected.


It happens that Adobe compounded the issue with their magenta casts. So it was a day or two of of going round and round trying to determine who was just pointing fingers to avoid the problem.
In the end, Adobe reproduced the issue and fixed it.

So you can now get good images, just can't do much to them, with regards to color adjustment, without first converting to TIF or JPG.
