I'm begining to prefer working with Lightroom for both RAW development and PSD conversion, taking the RAW file straight to PSD is great a time and disc space saver, also like how you can re-develope PSD file with presets.

Here's one multi developed image..................as always, thoughts and critique welcome.

I think you've done very well. The whole process with a smooth transition to get the desired effect. I'm not too fond of the whole 'fake image' style associated with magazines/fashion but it is hard work and does require skill to get right. The final image works very nicely, I would have left it a little more realistic on the skin (still softened though). I like that tatoo on her back.

The first one shows a lot of detail in the glove that has been lost by the final image. For me, it would have been nice to have retained some of that detail.

Hubba Bubba!!!!!!

SLAP!!!.............Pull yourself together Spider

Ahem;
I also prefered the original, but not too keen on the crease on the poor girls neck Plus I dont like the annoying distracting bit in the top right corner or those vertical bead thingys in the centre.

Apart form that its a very nice shot and I think you should say thank you by taking the girl to dinner, or I could do it on your behalf if you like

The idea of softening skin in photoshop, is exactly that. You soften the skin, retaining texture but removing uneven lighting and blemishes. Try not to just blur the skin leaving you with no texture.

The first one for me Brian. Don't really know what your idea was for the pic but these are my thoughts.

I'd have kept the detail in that glove - in the other pics she could have her hand in a black sock! That glove is detailed and sexy.
Soften the skin a tad - IMHO natural looking skin like hers is always the best I'd be careful and remove maybe only a little of the very few skin blemishes she has.
Try to keep the colours in her hair.
Adjust the lighting to remove that black shadow line along her elbow.
The background is distracting - maybe simple black card?

I've never been able to get the wife into this pose - infact I've never been able to get anybody into this pose - I'll keep trying

Love the look of the last one - "Photoshop image re-dveloped in Lightroom, 2nd edit" It has that fairytale/fantasy/painting look about it. Love to know how you got that effect in lightroom?

Cheers

Hi All

Apologies for the delay in replying, was PC'less from Tuesday till today, got sent to Stratford....visited some nice resturaunts and nearly lost a leg to the marauding swans who appeared to lay in wait for me outside the hotel entrance every morning

Anyway thanks for all the replies, some interesting comments and critique which I will take on board for future reference.

Spider...if I was 20.....no make that 30 years younger I would have no hesitation in taking the lady to diner, as it is I value my bits too much now to even think about it. BTW I'll be in your neck of the woods on the 22nd Feb, don't think I'll have much time to spare but just maybe I'll have time for quick coffee if we can arrange it.
Cheers
Brian.
