Hi Stefan it seems Samsung are not keen giving anything back Im getting pretty fed up with the whole situation. I have to phone them in the morning and hopefuly they will be able to let me know what they intend to do. I am pretty sure though I will not get another GX 20 more than likely they will offer the new NX 10 camera.

I think I said it in the last conversation in a similar situation - you are not obliged to accept an alternative. What I'd do is see what they offer and at least work out what it's trade in value would be.
If you're not happy with that, go back to where you bought it from and ask what they can offer. Because you've already been down the repair route the shop MUST refund your money.

Sounds pretty good to me! Spend the voucher on a new camera, and ebay the body for parts or keep it as a backup body where you have to crop a small bit off every photo (I hereby offer you £50 for it :mrgreen!

I had a Samsung pocket camera that would just lock up, to reset it I had to remove the batteries, wait, then try again.
After 3 returns to Samsung (who didn't even open the body!) I went back to the store, explained and was offered a refund or replacement.
That's why I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7.
The offer you've had is far better than the treatment I had.

Im not sure sure parts were available from Pentax to be honest. I just now want to get the camera back and see what I can get with the voucher and draw a line under the whole thing and give Samsung a miss in the future. Thanks for your feed back guys.

I'd be inclined to get Johnsons Photopia to look at it, I can't believe it couldn't be repaired with Pentax parts.

Its the age old issue of worth the repair? Spend £250ish quid on trying to repair something worth £400? Or use the £250 towards something new with full warranty? Do the repair and something else fails down the line and its money wasted.
If you have the voucher specifically for Samsung equip then perhaps there is a nice Samsung lens sitting waiting in a shop that can be put on the new body after Photokina and any resulting body releases(and probable resulting drop in 2nd prices). It depends on the terms of the voucher and what you want to do with it.

I have the same quandry with my K10D .. its immaculate apart from the memory card door that wont stay shut, the AE-L button that is stuck, the scratched sensor and the dodgy flash. Its the age old issue of worth the repair? I have been thinking about getting it converted to IR but if I got it all done then I just just know something like the shutter (50k+ shots) is going to pack up within a week.

Im lucky the dead pixel is right on the edge when veiwing the photos as mentined here, a slight crop will solve the problem in most cases. Dont know if I want to invest into samsung photography equipment once more to be honest if possible I may put extra cash to the credit note and go for a new telivison .

May as well keep it for shooting when you feel there's a risk of getting mugged for your camera, or use it as permanent an M42 body as Tony (Tozza) does. Bet it still takes great shots though eh?

Random long shot, here (I concede I have no experience of the GX20/K20D or its sensor), but is this basically a "stuck pixel" issue?
If so, when Philstaff gets the Samsung back, is it perhaps worth trying some of the (allegedly folklore) tricks cited on Wikipedia to try and 'unstick' the pixel(s)?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defective_pixel - scroll down to the section headed "Stuck versus dead pixels".
My apologies if these are all a total waste of time, but once you've got the credit note in your hand, it'd seem worth a try, wouldn't it? Nothing finer in the world than getting a refund and then fixing the junk yourself, is there?

It doesn't look like a single pixel. It looks like a hot/dead spot with white out spillage. Also if you look at the side of the image there is a band of darker pixels down the RHS.
