Which is better, chalk or cheese? Lightroom is a fully featured image processing and management package, bridge is simply for organising files I believe.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Bridge is a file broswer, Lightroom something else entirely.

James since you're going to the professional side Lightroom will do you good since it's easy to batch progress photos.
So if you do a portrait shoot and you do that on manually (same settings) you can very easily have progressed your whole work in a matter of minutes, depending on the amount of variations you use of course.
I shoot on manual 95% of the time and even in changing conditions I can batch progress 5 to 20 photos at a time.
