lense storage
Chuck plenty of the silica gel dessicant sachets in the bag to keep it dry, so you avoid fungus.

Just wondered if it would be better to stand on the filter ring with cap removed on a glass shelf, this would remove the possibility of fungus developing in dark conditions.

I have the kit I use in a Billingham bag and the rarely used lenses are out in the open air on a shelf in a dry environment (thanks to central heating!). The worst place is tucked away in drawers and cupboards. AND BAGS

I am confused because the 55-300 came with a soft lens case, but the more expensive 17-70 didn’t.
What is the consensus, if the lenses are stored in an old but clean shoulder bag is this considered adequate in the view of the majority on this site.
