Well now, the pound is at a record low against the Euro, VAT is as low as it will get, I still haven't had a bill for the heating, but I have paid off my credit card bill

So.....

I just ordered a DA*50-135 from SRS
Even with the extra postage involved I am saving at least €150

Oh, but don't tell the Bill Payer - this is our little secret

You know what Tel, I don't care if I do get the bill tomorrow. I have had a rough time lately with one thing and another and this is my (not so) little treat to myself to make up for it all. And it won't put on the kilos like chocolate would

Sorry to hear about the rough time you have had, Hope 2009 will be a better year for you, enjoy your new lens.
Going myself to SRS next week to pick up my DA 50-135 and Traceys DA 55-300, makes a nice day out.

Enjoy the lens - much better for you than several hundred pounds (£) worth of chocolate.

I went to St. Malo at the weekend and it was a bit of a shock to read the prices and just do a straight 1 for 1 conversion

[quote:3496ace15f="ttk"]Congrats, and sods law you will get the heating bill tomorrow

Terry,

Is Sod's Law the same as Murphy's Law?

We Canadians are suffering much the same as the Brits, with our dollar plunging against our neighbour's.

Maybe it's time for me to talk to Chris as well.

Enjoy your reward Gwyn!

Still no heating bill.

And no lens yet either.

A mix up on authorisation codes delayed it, but it's in the post now
What a wonderful, patient bunch they are at SRS. Thanks again Chris.

Next time I'm in the UK I'll shall call in on them if only to say hi!
Note to self - leave CC at home next trip

Do you've it Gwyn?
It's always busy with christmas so it might take just a bit longer.

I'm waiting for the DA* 55 to come to order it from Chris, it seems I would save also that amount of cash.
Therefor I'm curious on your experience with Chris after delivery.

Hi Stefan, my lens has just arrived.
It was posted on the 19th so that is very impressive really what with the Christmas rush and all.

The sun is shining but sadly Christmas is coming (so they tell me) and I have to get ready for the gathering of the clan here on Christmas Day, so I can't play with it yet.
Still it is going to get cold and dry after Christmas, so I hope the sun will show itself then too.

Great to hear Gwyn, too bad you're a bit busy but you can surely use your new lens to take some marvelous photos of Christmas eve.
Have a lot of fun with it
