I need to know if I can use Canon or Nikon (28-105) lense with asahi pentax mx camera?

Appreciate your advice.

The Pentax MX uses a Pentax K Bayonet Mount.

Canon cameras have 1 type of Bayonet Mount mount for manual focus cameras and another Bayonet Mount for autofocus cameras.

Nikon cameras have the Nikon Bayonet Mount.

The Pentax, Canon and Nikon mounts are all different from one another and will not interchange. To try may damage your camera or lens.

You could possibly get an adaptor mount made by a Company like SRB, but this would be expensive, would have limited functions (loss of open appeture metering) and would also alter the focal length.

Pentax, Sigma and Tamron all make good lenses to fit an MX.

Yes, there is no such thing as "standard" Nikon, Canon and Pentax are all completely different - it is just that some lense companies (like Sigma, Tokina etc) make several versions of the same lense optics.

The only odd-one-out is Tamron who make one lense and have their own little adaptors to fit each make of camera body.

That said, you can get decent second hand PK-fit lenses from:
www.mxv.co.uk www.ffordes.co.uk www.parkcameras.co.uk www.clocktowercameras.co.uk
(and other second hand places)

Hope that helps
